Storyville - Archive and a Personal Essay Film by Chris Emmanouilides

Storyville - Archive and a Personal Essay Film by Chris Emmanouilides

Friday, September 23, 7:00 PM (Reception at 6:00 PM)

Archive (USA, 2013, 40 min)

Archive reflects on ritual, memory and the passing of traditional photography in the digital age. Inspired by a trip to Greece for a baptism, this first person documentary layers B&W film and video, still photographs, digital imagery from the web and archival footage of the first electronic computer – the ENIAC – to create a moving and contemplative visual essay on an everlasting moment in family – and world - history.

Preceded by Pia’s Story (2015, 4 min) by Pia Chakaraverti-Wuerthwein in collaboration with Esperanza Altamar and Joan May Cordova on the production.  This photo documentary about the growth of Pia’s political consciousness was produced through a workshop with Anne Papillault & Jean-François Dars at Scribe Video.
