This Spring, Scribe presents three media makers affiliated with MIT’s Open Documentary Lab who are developing immersive storytelling techniques through AR. Damien is a creative technologist, digital archivist, and augmented reality (AR) artist and developer. He is the founder of Black Terminus AR, an augmented reality camera company that lets artists and museums create, sell, or commission AR artworks.

Based in Oakland, California, Damien McDuffie is a creative technologist, digital archivist, AR artist and developer. He is also the founder of Black Terminus AR, an augmented reality camera company that lets artists and museums create, sell or commission AR  works without a ton of code.  Through Black Terminus AR, McDuffie is collaborating with mural artists and community historians in Oakland to create an AR history of the Black Panther Party. He also makes use of mobile apps, a.k.a. “the studio in your pocket,” to draw on a variety of accessible creative tools (including Canva, Inshot and Muglife) for the AR enhancements.

McDuffie will also discuss Into the Archives, an on-going project that uses photo montage and augmented reality to extend still photos from his personal family archive into a new dimension.
