Securing the rights to use pre-existing music for a narrative or documentary film can be a daunting task for the uninitiated. Standard practices for securing rights to use music vary from project to project, and finding out who has ownership rights can be difficult.

Jeanne DaSilva Fox is an experienced professional within the music and film industry who has extensive experience with acquiring and clearing music for media projects. She has worked in both the commercial and non-profit sectors, including as a Director of Licensing at Sony Classical Records, and as faculty of New York University where she taught a course on music licensing issues. In this class, Fox will be presenting advice for how to get music cleared for independent media projects.
