The Community Visions program teaches documentary video-making skills to members of community organizations in Philadelphia, Chester and Camden (NJ). Walls And Doors: Inspirations From Our Elders by the Jubilee School

Students of the Jubilee School have been collecting oral histories and tales of courage and resistance as told to them by their community elders.  In Walls and Doors: Inspirations from Our Elders, the elders are both witnesses and creators of under-told parts of history.  Making this video has transmitted a legacy from one generation to the next and given the Jubilee youth a sense of the power of their voices and ability to create change (00:22:39). New Faces by the 1199C Training and Upgrading Fund 

1199C Training and Upgrading Fund aspires to fill the region's lack of nursing and allied health professionals with members of the community who are nontraditional candidates for these positions. Their video, New Faces, follows several graduates of the training program, portraying their histories, their current occupations and their reflections of the program (00:14:08). Read more

Bikes Work by the Neighborhood Bike Works

On the corner of 60th and Vine in the Haddington neighborhood of Philadelphia, youth are building bikes and breaking stereotypes at Neighborhood Bike Works, a non-profit where youth recycle old bikes as they acquire technical expertise and improve their bike riding skills.  Their video shows young people working hard, getting along with each other and taking an interest in the history of their community (00:20:31). Renaissance On Sacred Ground by the Arthur Hall Afro-American Dance Ensemble, Village of Arts and Humanities-Ile Ife

Renaissance on Sacred Ground is a documentary about the healing power of African cultural art forms, including music and dance, to transform the lives of everyday people. It tells the story of Ile Ife, the House of Love, an African cultural center located on Germantown Avenue in North Philadelphia and created by famed dancer-choreographer, Arthur Hall (00:22:07).
