With 2008 a major election year, Scribe is looking to assemble a crew of young aspiring filmmakers and journalists interested in exploring the question “Why Vote?.”

Workshop participants will work collectively to make short documentaries that will air on Philadelphia’s new multi-platform TV and Internet service, MiND. Participants in this 8-week workshop will use documentary filmmaking to investigate how people feel about elections, the duty of voting, whether voting matters and how our election system could be more reflective and representative. This workshop is both about production and looking at how the media is used in politics. Participants will use Scribe production equipment to shoot and edit their films.

Completed shorts will be broadcast locally on MiND TV (channel 35) and www.mindtv.org globally. No previous video making experience is required.

This workshop is made possible with support from the Arkay Foundation.
