Sustaining a career as an independent filmmaker necessitates learning how to write a clear, concise and persuasive grant application. This workshop will outline the process of planning, writing and submitting media arts grant proposals that accurately and compellingly represent your individual project. The first hour will focus on how to research grants, strategies for assessing appropriateness/relevancy/feasibility, and how to answer the questions to make your proposal competitive in both the narrative and financial sections. The second part will focus on what juries look for in the presentation, budget preparation and support material. In the third part, we will look at several grant proposals and critique their merits. Instructor will stay one hour after the class to consult on your individual grants.
