This special one-day intensive class will cover the basics of film distribution and marketing in the current arena of shifting platforms and markets.
In PART ONE: Creating a Strategy for Your Film, 9:30 am - 12, Jon Reiss will cover how to create a distribution strategy and marketing plan unique to your film; the various available markets for your film’s release; and how to engage your audience as early as possible.
In PART TWO: A Redefinition of Film Products, 12:30-4:30 pm, Reiss will cover: release options: theatrical, festival and alternative; maximizing live events; navigating the digital rights arena (VOD, streaming, aggregators/distributors, peer to peer networks) and transmedia.
Each attendee will get an opportunity to ask questions specific to his/her project.

Adobe Flash is the industry-leading software for creating and delivering interactive animated content for use on the web. In this workshop, participants will learn how to use Flash to add animation, video and interactivity to web pages. Topics include how to import Adobe Photoshop content into Flash, an introduction to Actionscript 3.0, timeline and script based animating, and working with video and sound in Flash. Students are invited to bring project ideas to develop throughout the course. Walk-in registrants welcomed.

Are you responsible for updating, maintaining and creating content for your organization's website? This workshop designed for people who want to develop and visualize their concept for a short video – documentary or fiction – before they start shooting, will give students an opportunity to focus their video story idea and practice mapping images to words. At the end of the workshop each participant will have developed their story by creating a log line and a story image map. Participants will be encouraged to share progress and support each other beyond the confines of the workshop.

Engaging in oral history, we retrieve historical information through interviews with individuals whose stories comprise the collective memory of our communities. This series of four workshops will present oral history methodology, explore possibilities for multimedia projects and discuss ethics, representation and dynamics of power in the relationship between interviewers and the community. (Valuable for Precious Places participants and everyone with ideas for new projects.)
