Street Movies! 2008 Call for Entries

Scribe Video Center’s Street Movies! is seeking short films and videos for the Summer Outdoor Screening Series 2008 program. A summer tradition across the city of Philadelphia, and now Camden, hundreds of people gather in neighborhoods with lawn chairs and blankets in hand, to enjoy a drive-in without the cars.

We prefer entertaining, family friendly, thought provoking films that will evoke progressive ideas and dialogue between neighborhood and cultural groups. Works in all disciplines (including animated, fiction, documentary, experimental) will be considered, with special emphasis on youth produced videos, works that explore immigration, green modes of transportation, the prison industrial complex, militarism, workers’ rights and gentrification. Selected works will receive a rental fee or an honorarium.

For consideration, send a copy of your film (DVD or VHS) and a cover letter with the title, total running time, director, distributor, and a brief description to:

About Street Movies!

Scribe Video Center's Street Movies works with community organizations to bring independent films to neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia and Camden. The films address issues related to specific neighborhood audiences and community groups. Events are one part film festival and one part town hall meeting and provide a forum for neighbors to interact and publicly discuss important issues. A professional emcee facilitates the discussion among the audience to inspire stimulating conversations among the screening participants. All events are free and open to the public.

Summer Outdoor Screening Series

Can anyone give details about this event? It seems really interesting! Is it continuous throughout the summer? Where is it held?
