The Attic Youth Center hosts an exciting line-up of documentary and narrative shorts by and/or about LGBTQ youth as they traverse the complex terrains of gender, sexuality, love, discrimination, and ultimately, self-acceptance and empowerment.

A Glance Into the Life (2007, Scribe Video Center & Colours Organization’s Youth Group 40 Acres of Change, 18 min) examines the life and circumstance of LGBTQ youth of color, ages 16-22, through their personal stories. It also dispels myths and provides much needed community resources.

A 17-year-old high school student struggles to find her own lesbian identity while dealing with the conflicting demands from
her family, schoolmates and ‘out’ butch lesbian friend in the award-winning Pariah (2006, Dee Rees, 29 min).

In I’m Not A Boy (2006, Julie Joyce, 6:10 min, Listen Up! and Frame by Frame Fierce, Producer) Julie Joyce narrates the trials, tribulations, and joys of growing up transgendered and how she ultimately finds community, family, and the courage to be her own fabulous self in the ballroom scene.

In the hyper-masculinist world of high school, a gay student faces daily harassment from his schoolmates while also trying to come to terms with his down-low relationship with another boy in On the Low (2004, Luther Mace,16 min).
Drawing from real life stories, spoken word and dance, The Attic Youth (2008, Peter Lien & Zane Booker, 4 min) is a choreographic vignette, featuring four youth who participated in a 12 week dance workshop conducted by the Smoke, Lilies and Jade Arts Initiative. The film explores the youth's experiences with love.
The Attic Youth Center creates opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (l/g/b/t/q) youth to develop into healthy, independent, civic-minded adults within a safe and supportive community, and promotes the acceptance of l/g/b/t/q youth in society.
