Presented in Partnership with the Philadelphia International Festival for the Arts (PIFA)
Join us for a celebration of eight new works, co-produced by Scribe and community groups from the Philadelphia region.
The Precious Places Community History Project brings together neighborhood groups, independent videographers affiliated with Scribe, and humanities scholars to understand how the history of specific sites in the Philadelphia region have defined neighborhoods and affected the lives of local residents. Since last summer, eight groups in the Philadelphia area have explored local archives, interviewed community elders, and edited their extraordinary neighborhood histories into 8-minute videos.
This year, the Precious Places series will premiere as part of the Kimmel Center’s inaugural Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. The eight neighborhood documentaries will be joined by a special commissioned video about James Reese Europe.
