This three-session workshop will provide participants a broad-based introduction to oral history practice, including project design, interview preparation and question lists, ethics and law, and interviewing techniques. The course also covers the collection of supporting documents, the construction of memory, presentation in multiple media, and the preparation of materials for deposit in an archive. The third session will focus on discussion of practice interviews and participant projects.

An award-winning producer of radio, video, and web-based documentaries, Charles Hardy is a professor of history at West Chester University.  An expert on oral history and non-print media, he is a former president of the Oral History Association (OHA), winner of the OHA Non-Print Media Award, and a group leader of the Institute for Museum and Library Sciences project on "Oral History in the Digital Age."  He is currently co-director of “The Great Migration Project,” with Louis Massiah.
